CBGF Invested in Mobile Klinik Professional Smartphone Repair, a Toronto based chain of smartphone and tablet repair stores across Canada, in May 2019. At the time, Mobile Klinik had 50 locations in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and was well positioned to become Canada’s most trusted and professional smartphone and tablet repair, care, sales and services retailer.

Mobile Klinik was led by Tim McGuire (CEO) and Rob Bruce (Executive Chairman), who had extensive experience in the retail and telecommunications industries. The management team was further supported by a Board of seasoned and well-respected executives from leading mobile/telecom/consumer-focused businesses.

In July 2020 Mobile Klinik was acquired by Telus Corp., marking CBGF’s first exit. CBGF supported the Management team’s decision to partner with Telus. Since our initial investment, Mobile Klinik had expanded its national presence through acquisitions and organic growth. During CBGF’s ownership, Mobile Klinik grew its retail footprint 68%, from 50 stores to 84 stores. During the same period, the headcount increased 32%, from 200 to 265 employees. The Management team joined Telus as leaders of this new division.
